Imperial President Obama: I’ll Act Without Congress

President Obama operates more and more as a king and less and less as an elected leader, accountable to the people.

Speaking in North Carolina on Wednesday, Obama announced (again) that he would rule on his own if need be. Discussing the extension of unemployment benefits, Obama stated,

“So Congress should do the right thing and extend this vital lifeline for millions of Americans. Of course, that’s just short term. Long-term, the challenge of making sure everybody who works hard can get ahead in today’s economy is so important that we can’t wait for Congress to solve it. Where I can act on my own without Congress, I’ m going to do so.”

This is unsettling. More and more during his second term, the brash president has declared that he can operate without Congress on important issues.
