The Second Amendment is one of the few laws that does and should apply to all fifty states. Even the most-ardent states’ rights supporters can agree that there is a need for federal government, but that that government should be severely limited. The Second Amendment, like the First Amendment, should not vary state-by-state but be a uniform right that exists throughout the U.S.
Sadly, not all states abide by the Second Amendment and as one crosses imaginary lines on a map, he or she will be entitled to varying constitutional rights.
California is surrounded by states that recognize the Second Amendment. Arizona, Nevada and Oregon all maintain a hands-off approach to constitutional infringements upon the right to bear arms. California, however, remains awash in gun violence even as they continue their decades-long failed experiment with rabid gun control measures.
Unbelievably, in the wake of the terrorist attack in San Bernardino, California, both President Obama and California Governor Jerry Brown have tried desperately to focus attention on gun control instead of the failures to recognize the dangers of radical Islam by both the federal and California government.
