Ben Carson Fears Widespread Chaos That Could Postpone 2016 Election

Dr. Ben Carson said that the number of crises that America is now facing could result in the country not holding elections in 2016.

The retired neurosurgeon and likely 2016 Republican presidential contender said that he hopes the election will be held as usual. “But certainly there is the potential” for other events to prevent that from happening, he said.

Carson responded to questioning from Fox News‘ Chris Wallace about that potential with a litany of issues that he said America is not addressing properly.

“[Y]ou have to recognize we have a rapidly increasing national debt, a very unstable financial foundation, and you have all of these things gong on, like the ISIS crisis, that could very rapidly change things that are going on in our nation,” Carson said. “And unless we begin to deal with these things in a comprehensive way and a logical way, there’s no telling what could happen in just a matter of a couple of years, and particularly in a situation where we have a Senate and a Senate leader who has over 300 bills sitting on his desk, [who] will not bring them to the floor for a vote.”
