Federal Judge: Chicago Gun Ban Is Unconstitutional

Chicago has some of the strictest gun control legislation around the country. After being told that an all out ban on handguns was unconstitutional, Chicago officials set out to find a loophole where they banned all sales of handguns within the city’s limits. As it turns out, a Federal Judge, ironically appointed by Obama, has ruled the ban as unconstitutional.

After several city residents as well an, “association of Illinois firearms retailers,” have banded together to file a lawsuit against the city. They claim that if residents have the right to own handguns within city limits, then it is illegal to ban the sale of those weapons within city limits.

To the amazement of many throughout the country, U.S. District Court Judge Edmond E. Chang has ruled in favor of the gun rights activists. In a major victory for the Bill of Rights and the Second Amendment, Edmond wrote, “Chicago’s ordinance goes too far in outright banning legal buyers and legal dealers from engaging in lawful acquisitions and lawful sales of firearms.”
