Could Santorum put Gingrich in the rearview mirror?

Tuesday night is shaping up to be a good night for Rick Santorum.

While polling has been limited in the three states holding contests Tuesday (Colorado, Minnesota, and Missouri), and an unusually high number of voters are uncommitted, pollsters are predicting that Mr. Santorum will win two out of the three and should place a close second to Mitt Romney in Colorado.

The question is: Will that be enough to revive Santorum’s candidacy or even put him on a path to nomination?

Despite winning (barely) Iowa’s caucuses a month ago, Santorum has been largely an also-ran in the early contests, barely getting mentioned by headlines more interested in Romney, Newt Gingrich, and Ron Paul.

So why is the former Pennsylvania senator surging now?

Likeability might be one factor. According to a recent Public Policy Polling report, responsible for the most up-to-date polls in the three states voting today, Santorum has a favorability rating over 70 percent in all three states. That’s in marked contrast to Romney (with favorability ranging from 47 to 60 percent) and Mr. Gingrich (47 to 48 percent).

Santorum can't win in elections…..just caucuses.

    • slickmick says:

If I thought Rick Santorum had a 50 / 50 chance of winning the election, I would surely vote for him, I see no confidence in him, I do not think he thinks he can win. That leaves me no choice but hope people will support NEWT. //// Romney and the old Hippie RP is not the answer. What I really like about Newt is everyone in Washington is scared of him.

NAFTA knewtie CFR brought us millions of lost jobs thanks to his "work" on behalf of CFR, TC, bilderberg clint-on. He rammed NAFTA and GATT the china treaty. He is a globalist, and if anyone wins other than Mitt, at least Santorum is clean on globalist treason. NOBODY WANTS knewtiescum and he has been hated for decades anyway. He is DONE.

      • Imprimis says:

Slickmick, the Republican elitists do this every time and we, the people, follow along like sheep. They want the power and the control of the money we want our country back. This time, after we have voted for a "slower" tyranny, we need to start a 3rd party and give the Republican Party the "all American salute… you know, 3rd finger up. ENOUGH!

I, too, believe Santorum is the best candidate. When you listen to these talking heads both sides say we have no viable candidate…a weak showing. They are so wrong. We had Bachmann, we have Santorum and even Ron Paul.
When I listen to RP, I do not come away with the same opinion as the "heads" but rather, MYOB (by the way, this is what we should do) whether it's smoking, eating, what goes in our cars, houses, anything at all. "mind your own d— business".

Long ago your posted propaganda has been proven false with the exception of his marriages. And yes Christian can support him. He has admitted his sins and asked for forgiveness. I am not here to judge him on that. I fully support Newt Gingrich as the only man who can beat Obama and take this country back. Sorry, but you just stay on your planetaryhub. 5. Ann Wilson Kingsley says:

The vote goes wherever the Tea Party endorsements go. All Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer had to do was hint at an endorsement of Santorum in 2 states for him to pick up the lead. But, the Republican nomination is not the general election, so the Tea Party had better be sure they are making the right endorsement because the Tea Party break away Ron Paul supporters are going to stick. Ron Paul supporters are fiscal conservatives, many of whom are staunch Evangelicals who will vote only on principle and for a principled candidate. Santorum's Reaganomics did not even handle all of the problems of the Reagan era, much less our current economic collapse. (Reagan continued to allow banks to be destroyed by loans to developing countries even after defaulting loans to developing countries bankrupted our banks, causing the 1970-80s recession. Not such smart fiscal policy.) Santorum is also a "Big" government Statist. I'm amazed that the Tea Party is a group of sheeple who allow themselves to be lead around in such a dizzying fashion. I would think this crazy dizzying tour of candidates without sound fiscal policy stances would get to be embarrassing after a while.

Instead of bothering with all the soundbites and altered messages of Kingsley and Planet, go to Newt's website for the truth. Everything negative they have posed is doctored. Newt has an outstanding record in Congress and the best leadership skills to bring us back from the disaster of Obama. Romney is just a white Obama and Santorum is a non entity and couldn't even hold his seat in the Senate. Ron Paul is as nutty as a fruitcake. The best and only choice is Newt.
    NEWT 2012

  12. patriotrenegade says:

To amoral: if you think costing us MILLIONS of JOBS with his ramming of NAFTA and GATT through congress, and going to HIS "website" for the answers is research you're nuts. NOT MORAL.

  13. stillmoral says:

You have one hell of a nerve calling me amoral. You better take a look at yourself first. CFR is nothing more than a Foreign Relations think tank so you're idiocy conspiracy theory is just that idiocy. As for the history of NAFTA it goes all the way back to Reagan.
NAFTA is a free trade agreement created whereby THREE countries — the United States, Mexico and Canada — could participate freely for the purpose of TRADE between the three . . . the sovereignty (independent powers) of each SEPARATE county is NOT affected.

    • stillmoral says:

1973: While officially declaring his candidacy for President, Ronald Reagan proposes a North American Agreement which will produce a North American continent in which the goods and people of the three countries will cross boundaries more freely.
January 1981 Reagan proposes a North American common market.

October 9, 1984 Congress adopts the Trade and Tariff Act, an omnibus trade act that extends the powers of the president to enter into bilateral free trade agreements. Act passed on October 30, 1984.

Dec 10 1985: President Reagan officially informs Congress about his intention to negotiate a free trade agreement with Canada under the authority of trade promotion. Referred to as fast track, trade promotion authority is an accelerated legislative procedure which obliges the House of Representatives and the Senate to decide within 90 days whether or not to establish a trade unit. No amendments are permitted.

      • stillmoral says:

January 2, 1988 Reagan and PM Mulroney sign the FTA , FTA to take effect Jan 1, 1989

Nov 6, 1987: Signing of a framework agreement between US and Mexico

June 10, 1990: Bush 41 and Mexican President Salinas announce that they will begin discussions aimed at liberalizing trade between their countries.

Aug 21, 1990: Offical proposal between US and Mexico

Feb 5, 1991: Negotiation between US, Mexico, Canada becomes trilateral

        • stillmoral says:

May 24,1991: US Senate endorses the extension of fast track authority in order to facilitate the negotiation of free trade with Mexico. Negotiations between Canada, the US and Mexico begin June 12, 1991.
Before the "official" NAFTA agreement was ratified by each countries legislative branch, Bill Clinton came into office and before sending NAFTA on to the US Senate, Clinton introduced clauses to protect American workers and environmental concerns.
          The US House approved NAFTA in Nov 1993 by a vote of 234 to 200 (Approved 132 R – 102 D
          Passed the Senate 61-38 (Approved 34 R – 27 D)
Clinton signed NAFTA into law in December 1993 and it went into effect Jan 1994.

You need to take your "conspiracy theories" and
put them where the sun doesn't shine . . . IMO

        • patriotrenegade says:

"protect American workers and 'environmental concerns' ". right, pure rubbish. MILLIONS of JOBS lost.

        • stillmoral says:

Listen you jerk, this goes back to 5 Presidents who supported this. To blame the whole thing on Gingrich show how ignorant you are.

        • patriotrenegade says:

Let's go back, cheney CFR, clinton CFR, TC, bilderberg, daddy bush CFR, VP daddy again, cahtuh TC, brought in brezhinski, nixon, rockerfeller VP, ford, moron. Wanna go back to woodie wilson and Jekyll Island 1908?

        • stillmoral says:

I have posted the whole history of NAFTA above. Yet you neglect to bother to read it and see it goes back 5 administrations. I refuse to buy your conspiracy theories. Newt Gingrich has an outstanding Conservative record in Congress. He has strayed from the reservation on occasion, but always comes back to his Conservatism. If you want to talk NWO that would be leftist Romney whom I find absolutely despicable. Sorry I don't believe a man who got a balanced budget for 4 straight years, a Republican majority for the first time in 40 years and got Clinton to move to center is what you are trying to paint him to be. Come out of the closet, you are a tinfoil hate supporter of whack job Ron Paul.

    • patriotrenegade says:

You think CFR membership is OK? It is the vanguard of global govt over us. THEIR website makes it look like a sunday school discussion group. RR was surrounded by them and just like the Lovitz sketch on SNL RR probably got "convinced" on a lot of things, plus he had pit viper daddy bush as VP. The results of NAFTA and GATT rammed through congress by CFR knewtie has been devastation on our economy. It's the economy……….

      • stillmoral says:

I think you are a full fledged nut job for Ron Paul. I would send you your tinfoyle hate if I knew where to send it. You are a conspiracy nut just like all the paulbots,.

      • stillmoral says:

What I actually think is that you have no abiltiy to discern reality.

        • patriotrenegade says:

The CFR's know that they've been exposed and the game is over. Your traitor pigboy wasn't even considered in the last three states. His evil ego will not let him quit yet. Besides bama, the last globalist pig standing.

        • patriotrenegade says:

to call yourself "stillmoral" means a very high opinion of yourself and the majority is probably immoral unlike you. Judgemental elitist, that's what it takes to be a CFR plus a minimum net worth of $1mil required.

        • stillmoral says:

Listen you, I am sick of the RP nuts going off and calling people names because we know what a whacko he is. You have shown yourself to be as vile as the nut you suppolrt.

        • patriotrenegade says:

I support winning. Rick, paul, or knewtburg CFR cannot win a general election. I've been with Romney all along. I'm glad you're still so moral.

        • stillmoral says:

Too bad you like voting for leftwing idealogues. Most people know that Romney is one big RINO. And who the hell do you think you are to judge my morality because I know Romney is a lying despicable man? Anyone that supports Romney is a leftist. That's why he cannot garner the votes needed to lock down the nomination. If he gets it, God forbid, then we get stuck again with Comrade Obama. Not even his "magic underwear" will help this cultist win.

  14. patriotrenegade says:

To amoral: if you think costing us MILLIONS of JOBS with these stupid treaties is good then move to mexico, that's where the jobs went IN SPITE of the "protections" you cite. 42,000 co's that employ more than 500 have left so don't give me this "official" drivel. THE CFR IS/AND WAS SET UP TO DOMINATE BOTH PARTIES AND BE THE VANGUARD for global tyranny OVER us. You can't explain it away as a think tank, there actions in congress and elsewhere have been bold and decisive. RR was an alzheimers ridden retard surrounded by traitors. You can stick your "morality" up your ass, if that's what you need for a moniker then it's sounding pretty elitist to me. yeah the "common market has worked great for europe. NOT. Everything you submit is true and UNDERLINES the evil and erroneous "thinking" by the scum in congress. The results have been horrific and you know it.
