Ruger CEO: We're Being Forced Out of the State of California

Is Ruger Firearms pulling its guns from the California marketplace due to the state’s mircrostamping requirement?

Despite what you may have read on the Internet, it’s a question that only one man can answer. That man: Mike Fifer, CEO of Ruger Firearms.

At SHOT Show 2014, had a chance to ask Fifer about the troubling situation in California. Here’s what he had to say:

“We’re being forced out of the state by the California Department of Justice,” explained Fifer. “This insistence on microstamping, which doesn’t work, is denying you your rights to have access to these guns.”

“We’re not abandoning the [California] market at all, we are trying our hardest to stay in the market,” he continued. “We’re committed to California and we’re fighting this every inch of the way.”

Leave this libeal state and go to another state that will welcome you with open arms

  2. T. Jefferson says:

Bring it to Texas, we love you guys.

  3. Frank Klafs says:

the goal in ca is to remove all guns from honest taxpayers so the illegals can rob them and run them off the pools so they cannot vote. La Raza get elected, all hissssspanics get lots of free stuff and all the white workers move out of the state.
Jerry brown and hollywood get their wealth taken and than are forced to work in taco bell for illegal alien managers

  4. Ray Burke says:

Leave your problems behind, Ruger. Get out of Mexifornia while you still can. Come on over to Texas where you’ll be welcome and appreciated. Pay us a visit, Mr. Fifer, and find out what “friendly” is all about.

  5. Jeffrey says:

No matter what the Lefty Liberal Scum want in Calif. there are those of us here that Fight them everyday and We need Companies like this here. If we run from one State to another without fighting back soon they will chase off the other end of the Country, One State at a time!

  6. RAY ALLEN says:

Tennessee would welcome you as well as any gun manufacturer, come to a state that is for guns.

  7. Rancid Pitts says:

People, boys and girls; Ruger does not Manufacture in California, but in Arizona. The state of Arizona is Firearm friendly, Ca. is NOT.
The problem they face in Ca. is all Handgun sale will soon cease due to Stupid Regulations. Micro Stamping! Placing the Ser.#, make and model, all on the Firing Pin to help solve crime, so they say. Crowded don’t you think? And how long do you think that info will last before it is peened over or wore off?
The elected officials in Ca. are all Real “Junior Rocket Scientist”.
If moving out of state was all it took to cure Ruger’s problems, I would be there with my Pickup to help them move to a Friendlier Home at No Cost to them.

    • Lets get Him Ruger and Joe Arpaio better known to each other? Be Nice to have Ruger in Arizona.Anyone complains send them back to Washington or Mexico Get ER Done>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    • Myron J. Poltroonian says:

Hmm, what happens in a “Closed Market”? Yes, chillin’s, the price of your “Banned” possessions goes up. In other words, when “New” is forbidden, the price of “Old” rises. Usually exponentially.

  8. AmericanIcon says:

Ronnie Barrett had the right idea. They don’t want you, leave, and do not do business with any agency or dealer in the state…and come back to Arizona, the most ‘firearms-friendly’ state (per G&A Magazine).

  9. Lloyd says:

I recently moved from California. The laws in the state are geared to benefit the criminal. Recently I read the new Chief of Police of Chicago is telling residents to protect themselves. In the state he just left they allow citizens to have guns and Concealed Carry Permits. The state has the one of the lowest crime rates in the country. If citizens have guns to protect themselves crime goes down. This is a proven fact you can check the FBI statistics. When criminals know they can be killed in the commission of a crime then they move to an easy target. When the citizens of California cannot defend themselves then they will be dying. According to the recent report it takes the responder to a 911 call 23 minutes. In 23 minutes the caller could be killed. It only takes a 357 at 1400 feet per second a fraction of that time to remove the threat of harm or death. Something to think about. Those in political power have bodyguards to protect them and they are generally on a few feet away. Does the mother with children at home have this kind of protection? No. She has to make a 911 call and the person responding to help her and the average as I mentioned before is 23 minutes. The question is WHY? Because we have the wisdom of Idiots who control the power. They have protection, you don’t and they don’t care. If they did care then you the mother with your children at home or the person with disabilities would be afforded the same protection. It is all about them and not about you.
You need to change your elected officials to real humans not self centered I only care about me individuals. Next time the vote comes up, remove the scum from the bottom of the gene pool.

    • Myron J. Poltroonian says:

As has been pointed out numerous times before: “It’s not about ‘Guns’, it’s about ‘Control’.”

  10. Dennis Terwey says:

Come on over to Kansas, we would love to have you. Really, get the hell out while you can.

  11. Frank Carson says:

CA: IF IT’S Brown FLUSH IT!!

  12. Americansoul says:
