The List: President Obama’s 23 Gun-Control Measures

Today, the president is announcing that he and the administration will:

1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.

2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.

3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.

4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.

5. Propose rule making to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.

6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.

Deja-vu all over again, does 1929 ring a bell with anybody ? Are we repeating history to the letter, or what ? Well, we voted for this garbage, now we will have to eat it. Bon Appetite.

Which of the 23 measures bans, confiscates, or just registers, even a single weapon?

  4. Gizmo says:

WHERE are the STATE CONGRESSES on all this!?!?! This is definitely a power grab & travesty of Federalism. States (& all citizens, of course) MUST stand for our Bill of Rights, esp. # 10 at this point, and make sure that this “government” is held into its Constitutional boundaries. There a 3 branches of Government for a REASON, there is a Bill of Rights for a REASON, there is a document called the Constitution for a reason. REX LEX!!!!

  5. Do any of these measures get illegal guns out of the hands of criminals?
Will any of these measures lower gun crime numbers? Keep track……..

  6. JRJ says:

Every small, seemingly innocent “rule” is another brick removed from the wall. The dr. can ask all they want about guns and my lips are sealed. barry has no right to turn them into informants.
